Rupert Giles is the watcher of Buffy Summers, vampire slayer, in Sunnydale (or Sunnyhell, depending on your point of view), California. Although often thought of as a stuffy Brit, he has a affinity for magic, competent skills with fighting and weapons of the trade, and an extensive knowledge of vampires, monsters, demons, and anything else termed evil. Employed by the Watcher's Council, he has proven his loyalty to Buffy above all others, to whom he became a father figure. He often has a very dry sense of humor, and can be quite sarcastic when he's acting put off by something, or more often someone, but he is also often very sincere.
